Chronic Cough Of Phlem From Lungs

Chronic Cough Of Phlem From Lungs

I have a two year productive cough.  I have to force myself to cough extermely hard to force the phlem off of my lungs.  Doctors tried to kill it (whatever "it" is) with several courses of antibiotics last year.  However, when I finish the antibiotics the phlem problem returns within a few days.  I suspect it is an infection related to my sinus infection but do not know for sure.  One doctor told me that my white-blood cell count is a bit elevated and I guess this convinced her I wasn't dreaming it up as she couldn't hear rattling on my chest.  Any sugestions.

The key to taking care of this problem is to identify the source. You are correct that sinus infections can cause chronic cough. However, there are other possible reasons, as well. This could be asthma, chronic bronchitis, etc. I would suggest that you speak with your physician to evaluate the possible sources for this problem. You may need to see a specialist for this type of evaluation.
