Constant need to take cleansing breath

Constant need to take cleansing breath

Hello, on sept 16 i suddenly felt the need to take a deep breath but couldn't. I have felt this way everyday since.  I went to the doctor and my heart rate was 140. and and echo was done (showed high pulmonary pressure =40 and sinus tachycardia).   For the following month i went to the doctor on a regular basis with high heart rate and shortness of breath every time.  I was seen by a cardiologist and a holter monitor was ordered and it showed sinus tachycardia with heart rate at 200 on occasion.  i was then seen by a lung specialist.  pulmonary function test were all normal.  i was tested for hiv, and lupus. (normal)  at this time i was put on toprol 100 mg daily. Since being on the toprol my heart rate has slowed, but i still have the CONSTANT need to take a deep cleansing breath.  some times i am able to catch my breath, some times i am not (i get very anxious when i cannot). I have been for 3 chest x-rays, a thyroid scan and a lung scan (i also tested positive twice for a pulmonary embolism (d-dimer)) All tests were normal.  I have also had a vascular study done and it was normal.     My question is if my heart rate is lowered, why do i still constantly feel short of breath, especially at rest? Also now i have chest pain that radiates into the left side of my neck. Last week i went for a cardiac catheterization to see if i had pulmonary hypertension.  That too was normal. Is there anything i could suggest to my doctor? Or do you know of anything that would cause my symptoms.

It appears that we have been provided with conflicting information; two positive tests (d-dimer) for emboli with evidence to suggest pulmonary hypertension, on the one hand, vs. the statement that, "All tests were normal", including what is described as a normal cardiac catheterization.
The sinus tachycardia of 200/minute, alone, could cause anxiety and/or shortness of breath.
Normal pulmonary function tests do not exclude the diagnosis of pulmonary disease, pulmonary emboli or other.
The symptoms could also be on the basis of anxiety attacks with panic disorder. This consideration could only be evaluated by your physicians and should be considered, only after serious heart and lung disease has been completely ruled out.
You should request that your physicians consult with each other to determine if all serious disease truly has been ruled-out and that they then provide you with their joint conclusions and recommendations. You should also request their explanation for the two positive d-dimer tests.
