Cough and Congestion

I'm having trouble breathing in deeply. When I do I feel a wheezing in my low throat and I begin to cough, but I am not coughing up any mucus. I have been to a Dr. and he has me on an antibiotic and suposedly something for congestion. He said I have a sinus infection, but this is the third week I've been sick like this and I'm just not getting better. Should I go back and have a chest x-ray to see if it's gone into something more than a regular sinus infection, or is there a home remedy or over the counter stuff I could take to prevent myself from going back to the Dr?

If this is an infection, home remedies won't work.  It is possible that this is a sinus infection.  If that is the case, it takes a good course of antibiotics to treat.  If that does not work, it is worthwhile to get a CT scan of the sinuses to see if one or more of the sinuses are blocked.  This would require more extensive therapy.
