Cough and Vomit

by Rishi190405, Dec 20, 2006 12:00AM
I have been coughing for nearly 8 months now.   It started back in May not so severe but over the period of months it  has got worse.  I have an irritation in my throat At least every 2 hours and coughing as a result. this in most times result in vomiting. I cough out mucus, a clear substance and food comes out. Sometimes this happens after eating and especially at nights I seem to be waking up atleast 4 or 5 times  to cough and I feel the need to cough watery sort of mucas out to feel better.

I have had an x-ray for my chest and blood test done and have been prescribed Ashman medicine- Reliever ( 100 micrograms salbutamol, 200 metered dose) and a Preventer ( Beclometasone dipropionate ph eur 50mcg ) . But it  doesn't seem to get any better.

I have asked to see a Chest specialist and waiting for an appointment.

I am not sure what is happening to me and can you help? I am not sure whether any of this has anything to do with  stress. I was very stressed at my old work and resigned a few months ago. I am now with a new company and I like it here. However unfortunately I lost  both my parents in the last 4 months one following the other with a 47days gap. Not sure whether trauma has anything to do with it.

Stress can aggravate any inflammatory process, but may not be the cause.  It is a good idea to see a physician who will first determine if the cough is from an upper or lower airway problem.  The medications assume that this is asthma, but it may be coming from the sinuses.  This could be allergic or nonallergic, from allergy or from an infection.  Having a good chest examination, lung function tests and possible a CT of the sinuses should help to make the diagnosis.

Sorry about your loss. I don't underestimate the ill-effects of stress on your body. Good luck to you.
