Cystic Fibrosis and coal smoke

I am 16 years old and I have Cystic Fibrosis.  My neighbors across the road burn coal along with other items such as bundled up newpapers and garbage.  The smoke blows across the road to our house nightly.  It causes my family and I to have sore throats, headaches, etc.  Are there any known laws against endangering the health of someone with a respiratory condition and/or any ways of preventing/reducing the effects of the smoke on my health? I am so sorry that you have to go through this.  First of all, have your parents approached the neighbors about this and the obvious health concerns their actions are giving you? If they are burning this outside in a barrel for instance, perhaps there are laws regarding this depending on where you live. I would talk to the neighbors first to see if anything can be done, perhaps burning cleaner fuel. If that doesn't work, check with the city or town's laws regarding this if there are any laws. You could also consult with a lawyer who is familiar with such laws as well. The last resort of course is to move if that is possible.
I really sympathize with you, I have CF as well and can tell you that any exposure to smoke from any source leaves me hacking until I turn blue.
I hope your parents can find a solution for you, to stay in this situation would be harmful to you in the long run.
