Diaphragn position is high and lung is restricted

by Kimridesaharley, Oct 31, 2008 10:25AM
My dad is 70 and in good general health. He gets around fine and works part time. He was having a hard time getting his lungs full so went to the doctor two weeks ago. The xray image shows his diaphragm is high on one side and the lung is smaller. Initial breathing test suggests he has the lung capacity of an 83 year old. He has not smoked in 20 years. He was told on the phone it appears he has a form of restrictive lung disease. His blood work from a few months ago did not indicate problems. His blood pressure was high at the time he went to the doctor, but seems to have gone back to almost normal. He sees a  specialist December 15th, which is the soonest available appointment. In the meantime, our family has 6 more weeks to worry. What type of restrictive lung disease might this be?
