Does anyone have LPR?

I have one lung and ever since my surgery 24+ years ago and 30 days of being burnt inside out from radiation treatment I have had nothing but pain in my upper chest, mainly spams in shoulders and tightness. Back then there was no rehabilitation, I guess I was suppose to work through it. To make a long story short (you can read my bio) Years later, like 10, I started have a slight cough like and complained about it for years and no one knew what it was. I too got all kinds of test ran. Then I went through and rough patch in my life and my whole body went hay wired. I ended up at the gastro dr. and my IBS was acting up and he put me on stomach meds and said I had acid reflux. I thought that weird since I did not have any symptoms. It was not till a few more years that I was at a new pain management doctor and he said I had LPR.. Which meant it was a silent type of reflux. After trying many other meds. I ended up taking Nexum, which works the fasted and healed the best. I must of took those for many years and all the while my thoart was getting worse. I ended up on bipap machine for sleep, since radiation weaken my airway and it narrowed when I laid down to sleep and I wasn't getting enough oxygen to sleep and that is why I was to exhasted during the day even though I was taking meds for my slow thyroid.
I finally decided last year to stopped my Nexum guess what my throat felt better. Then I tried getting off my bipap since he made my mouth dry and lots of phlem in the morning..With one lung my throat, airway passage is very sensitive and I can get sick easy from cold air going in my lung. I now feel much better the mucous is not that much and feel just a little something in throat. I am not straining so hard to cough and break up the mucous. Sometimes it would be chunks of green, white, clear... I know green means you have an infection and I chalk that up to the bipap. I got back on Krill omega and boy does that really open your airways up, it helps with inflammation. I just recently went back to using my bipap since I was feeling sluggish again and oxygen alone did not help, but this time I did not fill up the water humidifer on the bipap.. I think that was the reason for the excess junk.. when I first got back on it, I had tons of junk to spit up in the morning along with dry, dry mouth. I started adding just enough water for the night so far so good..Dr. has got me back on stomach  meds again and it does make my throat worse. So I am going to bring that to his attention and see what he says. I try taking natural stuff if I can and I tried some new stuff that came out for peri-menopause called I-Cool and he torn my stomach up bad, one night I  had to  be taken to emergency center for bad stomach pain..Now that is what I am trying to get healed. I will be currently looking for something natural to juice for healing my stomach.. I know I said a bucket full here but maybe some one else has LPR and they can tell me how they are doing.. Blessings to all..

Hello and hope you are doing well.

To reduce acid levels try good life style measures. Take frequent small meals. Avoid spicy and oily food. Eat dinner about two hours before sleeping. Elevate the head end of the bed. Keep a food diary and note down what aggravates your symptoms and avoid them. Ensure to maintain optimum weight by regular exercise. Avoid NSAID's, quit smoking, eliminate alcohol, avoid caffeinated beverages and reduce stress levels. These measures need to be practiced long term for results.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I have read your note and after reading it I thought some of the symptoms you mention are very similar to mine, I have been under gastro doc for 2 yrs and nothing seems to be being sorted, I have had 3 endoscopys, plus a acid 24hr measuring test, I have taken numerous medication for reflux, yet they tell me I dont have reflux ?? however I also suffer from COPD (Bronchetasis and empysemia) so all in all Im in a mess I could probably cope better with my lung probs if I could ease the mucus a bit, I suck out and vomit loads a day, any information from you or any input I would really appreciate it.

You mention Krill Oemaga, what is this.

Many Thanks
