Emphyema Concerns

by Bevee650, Jul 07, 2009 11:26PM
My doctor informed me after a c-scan for chest pain that emphysema showed up in my upper right lung.  I was surprised.  I quit smoking over 16 years ago.  He offered me no tests or information about what I need to do or what to expect.  I was a smoker for about 25 years before quitting.  Why now?  I only have  shortness of breath after walking up 3 flights of stairs where I live.  I walk about 3 miles a week.  I'm worried now. My dad died from this.  What steps should I take?  What tests do I need?  I am a female 68 yrs of age.  Thanks for any advice.
