Emphysema & pseudomonas, COPD

by Libbyjane, Jun 15, 2009 02:22PM
My dad is 83, has COPD( emphysema) plus Heart failure. He has been on Antibiotcs on & off for 2yr, This week he was finally diagnosed with Pseudomonas....after having a Heart attack thro severe breathlessness. He has for the last 6 month been very tired & breathless.  What are the chances of him recovering & how fatal can this bug be.  The hospital has started him on a new drug, He will take 2 a day for a Month, have regular blood tests(can not remember name began with Al) if no side effects he will take 1 on Monday, wednesday & fridays.  1 of the side effects is deafness.

This discussion is related to copd and Pseudomonas.
