Flow Volume Test

by michelle23, Oct 12, 2006 12:00AM
I recentky had a "flow volume-volume time" test a local helath fair. My FVC was 74, FEV1 was 76, PEF 80, FEV1% 102. Can anyone tell me is these results are worrisome. I am 37, overweight, quit smoking 3 years ago. The people at the fair told me to follow up w/a pulmonary doctor, is this rading considered serious. I cannot see the dr for a month or so. Also I was diagnosed w/sleep apnea a month ago-just a side note.

The results are not normal.  They are compatible with being overweight – depending how much you weigh.  However there are other conditions that can cause similar results.  A lung specialist might do a history and physical exam and order a chest x-ray along with full pulmonary function tests (PFTs).  Then this specialist would be able to give you a firm diagnosis.
