This question is for my 79 year-old mother. She recently had a chest x-ray as part of a general physical and was then sent for a CAT scan of her lungs(specifically left lobe). Her doctor reported yesterday that the CAT scan results indicate "scarring" of the left lobe. He said, based on the CAT scan analysis of scarring, that he is not concerned, but the CAT scan was ordered to look for the possibility of lung cancer.
