For how long exactly is Tuberculosis contagious?

Hi,
I am a TB patient on medication since last 4 months. I have read a lot about TB on the internet. Most of the sources say that it may not spread after the medication of 2-3 weeks. But I am still worried. Because I have a 8 months old nephew at my place. Is there a chance of him getting infected if I would be around me?

You have to consult your treating physician. There are many varieties of tuberculosis. Once infected the infection is forever. The only thing to hope for is remission. Following treatment protocols you should be non-contagious, but the time period for this varies.  This is a question solely for your treating physician. Remember than tb sputem can remain capable of causing an infection for months. I did extensive research on tb and have the studies from the 1920's. Never ever miss taking your medications. Keep dust down in the room and purchase an ultraviolet disinfectant unit. Ultraviolet light kills tb bacteria. That discovery won a Nobel prize in 1904. It pays to repaint your apartment. This was a standard thing to do in the 1920's to seal in bacteria that have ended up on the walls. Never dry mop. Always wet mop. Remember that bleach kills tb bacteria. That is why hospital whites were mandatory during the turn of the century.
