Had pneumonia five months ago, still sick, (reactive airway?)

I had pneumonia five months ago. I am 42 year old female, non-smoker, otherwise healthy. Thought it was viral but couldn't tell. Was hospitalized 11 days. Have been on Advair 500, Atrovent, Salbutamol,Allegra, and numerous antibiotics. CT scan showed normal. Saw Pulmonologist who thought it was either asthma, inflammation from pneumonia persisting, or bronchitis or combo. Tested normally on his "glass box" tests. Tested normally on all my RRT lung function tests, but cold air (winter), blowing dust, and exercise make it worse. No history of asthma for me but brother has it. No allergic reaction prior to getting sick. After months I thought it was getting better very very slowly but one day of cleaning (with dust mask on) no harsh cleaners used, sent me into what they thought was an asthmatic flare up. Back on Atrovent and Salbutamol every 4-6 hrs. Cough up yellow mucus especially in the morning, but cough throughout day too. Last "Asthma flare" had sore eyes, coughing, mucus and shortness of breath. GP thought it was asthmatic when he listened to me. Haven't been able to get the methylcholine test yet due to "flare". I am so sick of being sick. Any "exercise" even walking for more than a few minutes I get breathless. I have even temporarily gotten rid of my cat. Coughing up mucus at night to during "flare" and for many months priorAny ideas? My GP keeps changing as they come and go in our small community. One tells me I don't have asthma, next one does. I am taking zinc glucanate if I feel "sicker" and ColdFX every day with ginseng. I need help. Thank you very much.

These symptoms sound very much like asthma.  This is also supported by the family history of asthma in your brother.  I would find a specialist and work with him or her to establish the cause and work on controlling the problem.  If this is a problem, you may consider being evaluated as an outpatient at National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, Colorado where we see this type of problem every day.
