Hole in septum

by skdycat, Jan 10, 2005 12:00AM
I found a hole in my septum about at year ago.  Because of fear, I haven't been to a doctor.  I believe it is getting worst.  I now feel the air on the back of my throat when I breath and the other day, I went to a water fountain and bent over to drink, and the water came out my nose.  I've since made an appointment.  I've never used drugs, so I don't know the cause, but my question is.. I've been using a q-tip to swab vasaline in it to keep it moist.  Would this cause it to be worst?  Now my worst fear is cancer.  Is there other more common causes for this?  Thanks Skdycat.

You will need to be seen by your doctor to know if there is another reason for this hole in the septum of your nose.  Your doctor may suggest that you see an ENT.  This would be the type of specialist to find the cause and the best treatment.
