I cant stop burping

by bdot., Jul 03, 2007 03:30PM
I am a young adult woman who has been suffering from some sort of hiccup/burp. For the last four monthes I have been burping uncontrollably. It started out that it wasnt such a bother. I would just get caught in my throat with burps. Now, it is happening much more frequently, lasting hours at a time and disrupting my whole life. It stops me from eating, sleeping, and even performing my job, which has me dealing with people one on one. In general, it just takes my breath away and keeps me feeling very tired.

Now, I've tried everything I can get my hands on, from pepcidAC, to prilosec, to prevacid, to Baclofen as prescribed by one of the few doctors I could get to that didnt require insurance- I dont have any. I am at my ropes end. I dont know what to do anymore. Any tests that I might need just to diagnose me are very expensive, especially if they dont actually bring results. I think it must be something related to my diaphragm, but I have been unable to find a thing about it online...

Can anyone help me? please!? direct me to someone, perhaps???

anxiously awaiting, and out of breath

I too have been experiencing the same burping problems for years now along with having the burps whenever I have the hiccups. I also have had moments where this problem interfered with my daily life. There has never really been anything I used that stopped the unwanted random burping, but if you experience this problem in the same extent I do, it can be VERY tiring on your throat and those drugs you've stated can be very bad for your stomach over long term use. Unless you are lactose intolerant, if so this advice may not be for you as it may cause more gas, I've found that drinking more milk than usual dramatically reduces the harshness of my burps and makes easier is on my throat. I usually drink about 3 glasses of milk (preferably chocolate milk ^_^) everyday and it seems to keep the problem under control.
I have been searching the web for more information on this subject also but have found very little. Please let me know if you find anything out. I hope my advice helps.

I have the same problem plus I have a problem breathing sometimes. Does anyone knows what causes this I haven't been able to get rid of it. I'm going to try Gopps idea with the milk nothing at all has helped me so far though.
