I don't know what;s wrong...

I had an abscessed tooth, a bad one, that was treated by opening and draining. 5 days later, on a return visit to check it, the dentist recommended immediate removal due to the severity of the infection and concern of it entering my bloodstream. Coincidentally, I think, within a day or two of removal, I began having ear pain, then sinus pain, congestion, and infection, now added to that is a severe upper respiratory infection. I am running fevers, feel like I have fluid (popping, congestion, pain even to the touch) in my ears and lungs, headache, severe coughing and so forth with an extreme amount of mucus (mostly yellowish). At night I almost feel as though I am going to "drowned" due to the vast amounts of congestion and am constantly waking to cough up and expel both nasal and chest congestion. What has happened???? Is this caused by the tooth issue or???? What should I do? I am miserable and feel really, really, bad. Please help me.

It is wierd that everything if happening all at once with you...The z pack is a good antibiotic..Zithromax. I am on that chronically for my lung issues, have been on it for a year and a half now. I am curious as to what your doc will ultimately say and do with you. You sound absolutely miserable, hopefully you will get relief soon. Take care, I will keep you in my thoughts...Sunny

Thank you for your reply Sunny. I was thinking the same thing, yet, due to the "odd" happenings prior to all of these other issues slamming me at once, I couldn 't help but wonder if it was related to the tooth issue. This is the first respiratory problem I have had in years and with it happening so close (within 24 hours or so) to the tooth thing....well...I just didn't know. I have started a regimen of a z-pak, which I just feel sure you already know is a hard core antibi....but it hasn't yet helped. I will definitely follow up with my family doc just to see what else it could be, because I am just miserable and am at the point of wondering if hospitilization might be in line. Thanks again for takig your time to respond.  cat

I would see your regular doctor at this point so that he or she can properly examine you and treat you. It sounds like you have an upper respiratory infection that is affecting your sinuses from what you describe. I am not sure if this was caused by your tooth, that is interesting....
I hope that you feel better soon and please see your doc! Sunny
