I have tonsillitis already the 6th time in a time of one month...

Well... It all started in may. I felt bad in the evening. I woke up in the morning with huge tonsils (however one of my tonsils is big all the time). I didn't stay home because I had exams. In the 3rd day pus came out... I called the doctor... He said I will be find I just need to drink the anthibiothics and gargle.
So after 2 days I felt fine and I went out. The next day I even went to my basketabll training. It seemed that tonsillitis has gone away. But it happened again. After a week I felt ill... I had temperature. After some 5days I was again ok. I drunk all my anthibiotics. Then I started a lil bit to sport. but the tonsillitis came back again.....
And now I feel it's coming back again. This will be the 6th time in a month. I don't know what to do. My doctor said I need to take my tonsils out. However I can't get well.
I think I will be sick tomorrow. And there is a reason. Today I went to funeral. It was raining hard.
WHAT TO DO??
How long should I stay home? And when can I start doing sports?
I can't live without sports.
Oh... And if I have tonsillitis can I take my tonsils out???

If your tonsils are infected, your doctor needs to find out the bacteria causing this infection.  To get rid of a strep infection, you would need to take the antibiotic for ten days.  Some bacteria that cause tonsillitis are resistant to Penicillin.  So this antibiotic will not get rid of that infection.  Viruses like Mononucleosis can cause tonsillitis.  However antibiotics will not get rid of a viral infection.

You may be infectious, so do avoid close contact with others.  You should definitely stay home if you have any fever.  While your tonsils are infected you should not have your tonsils taken out.

No docotor will operate on you if you are sick. They will wait for the tonsilitis to go away and your fever to drop and your cell counts to return to normal before doing surgery.
