IWhy I have normal temperature at night and high during day?

Hello,
I few days ago started something that really makes me feel uncomfortable. My temperature is normal during night, I check when I wake up (tonight it was 97.7 F) and high during day. Now it is 99.6 F.
Two days ago, when it started, my day/evening temperature was much worse -103 F, then increased to 106 F (I had no confusion). I put cold towel on my head and neck and then took warm, cooling shower. At night, when I woke up in 4 am, my temperature was 98.4 F. During day it is increase,d but doesn't go that high any more.
First time in life I am not hungry for a few days, feel slow down. I do not have fever - I mean I do not feel hot/cold. I feel just a bit tired, sometimes head ache. What this could be? I eat salads with 6 big cloves of garlic a day, drink a lot.
I went in Atlantic Ocean 7 days ago - water was not warm enough for me. May be I got cold.. But I never was so sensitive to such little things, and the incubation period was too long, if this short swim was a problem. The temperature increased 4 days later.

Could it be staph infection in the body organs (I had before for short time some little pain behind my knees)? Or could it be some other infection rather than regular cold?

Thank you.
