Inhale mold/fungi from air conditioner

2 weeks ago I cleaned out the window air conditioner at work.  There was black dirt  that I wiped out (alot).  The next day I felt like I was getting a cold.  The next day I felt like a cold and fever (Friday).  Sat. I went to our access clinic thinking I was getting a real bad cold and wanted to make sure it wasn't going into my chest.  All was clear and figured it was just a summer cold.  Next few days, worse, bad coughing up flem (phlegm) (especially at night), achy, really no fever.  But, interestingly, no runny nose - at all.  Alot of nasal dripping down my throat but no nasal congestion.  Lots of coughing.  Tuesday got muscinex and cough syrup.  Still lots of coughing and the cough syrup keeps me from coughing up the felm and the felm gathers in my throat.  Thursday back to access clinic - still doesn't hear anything rattling in my chest - gives me steroids and a different cough syrup. Hasn't helped.  Sunday - my husband and I were talking and we wondered - what about mold getting into my lungs from the air conditioner?  Still no runny nose - so I really don't think this is a cold.  I will call the Doctor tomorrow.  I don't what to say to get the help I might be needing.
Do I ask to see a respiratory specialist at this point?  I don't want to prolong this if I shouldn't.  Any advise would be appreciated.  Thank you so much.

I had black mold get into my lungs thru a straw. I was VERY sick dr. did breathhing treatments with me and put me on an antibiotic. The 1st one didnt work. Did more breathing treatments and another antibiotic along with a steroid. This finally kicked it but I was sick for   about 3 months. I had stabbing chest pains that hit me so hard I fell to the ground and had fevers off and on this whole time. I really think the steroid helped more than anything. Good luck to you.
