Lingering psuedo sore throat

by bob101, May 05, 2005 12:00AM
This has been very weird for me. I know what a sore throat should feel like, but this isn't quite it.
About 2 weeks ago, my lymph in my neck became inflammed. After 2 days they had gone down, but i had the feeling of a sore throat coming on. But it never did, it just stayed that feeling that a sore throat is coming on. My lymph are back to normal, but this feeling that a sore throat is coming on is still there. But its not sore yet, just the feeling in the back of the throat that I am about to get a sore throat. When I drink lots of water (which I do in my office) The feeling tends to subside, but then returns after a little while. Throat lozenges don't do much.
What could this be?

Also, I usually have pretty bad allergies, but lately they haven't been all that bad.

It is very difficult to determine what is going on without looking into your throat and possibly performing a throat culture.  There are many reasons, allergic and nonallergic that can cause this.
