Loosing air

by amikael, Aug 02, 2003 12:00AM
Hi, as I turn my upper body rapidly, air is pushed out from the top of my chest, making a hizzing sound.
Is this a sign of asthma?
If not, then what is going on?
My breathing feels heave as well, and I often get headaches due to this.

It is important to find out the cause of the symptoms that you are describing.  Asthma is only one possible cause of this.  The "test" for asthma is a simple one.  You will blow into a machine both before and after taking an inhaled medication.  It is a quite safe and definitive test.  If you have asthma, there are several safe medications to control the problem.  If you do not have asthma, the search should continue to determine whether the cough is due to an upper or lower airway problem.  The tests for these are also safe and fairly definitive.  You should see a pulmonologist for help in making the diagnosis and getting on appropriate treatment
