Lost ability to smell and sour apple taste in mouth

I haven't been able to smell anything for about a year now, although at times I get the sensation of the smell of smoke, like leaves burning.  When this happens, there is no fire to smell nor does anyone else smell this.  Also, within the last couple of days I have had a "sour apple" taste in my mouth.  It is strong and affects the taste of food and drink.  I don't have any congestion that I can tell, nor any sort of throat or mouth problems.  I've tried a couple different toothpastes and both alcohol based and nonalcohol mouth washes, but the taste won't go away.  I read another post on here from a user that said her husband has the same no smell/ smoke sensation, but not coupled with the sour apple taste in the mouth.  I have headaches, but characteristic of cluster headaches and have not occurred during smoke smell or strange taste, and I haven't had one in about a month.  Any suggestions?
