Lump in my throat

I felt something rough in my throat a few weeks ago, thinking it was a food particle I tried moving it but it wouldnt budge, so I looked in the mirror and there was a lump with a white area on it.  I scratched the white area off and went to the doctors the next day, he said there wasnt anything there, and gave me paracetamol as he said my glands were swollen, but the sensation of a lump is still there.

I've taken a picture, so you can see what I'm talking about.

The lump is still there 3 weeks after visiting the doctor, and I'm not sure if its in my head due to worry, but I kinda feel its a little harder to breath lately.

If anyone could give some advice or pointers on what it could be, I'd be highly greatful.
