Lung Calcifications and nodule

by S.H., Jun 08, 2002 12:00AM
I have a married couple that are friends of mine. They recently had chest x-rays done as part of their doctor visit. The guy's x-ray showed calcifications in it, and her x-ray showed a nodule in it. They are both going to have another x-ray in a few months. She was curious what exactly are lung calcifications and nodules. Is it dangerous, and can it be cancerous?

The nodule may need to be monitored periodically to see if it is increasing in size. Is so, it might need to be removed.

The calcifications indicate the possibility of lung disease, and
may also need to be followed periodically by CXR.
