Lung Function Tests

Well, I had my lung function test today and it was very educational!  I do NOT have Asthma!  That is a huge relief to me!  I do NOT have COPD!  That is also a huge relief to me!

I do however have a diminished lung capacity to 70% with reason unknown.  I also have an oxygen level that is lower than normal, unknown reason.

The technician that did the test said that I should be seen by a lung specialist and asked if I had an appointment with one?  I responded no and he said that my g.p. will get the results from his testing tomorrow.  I, however, don't have an appointment with my g.p. until Feb. 6th...don't know if it is important enough that I should hear from my dr. right away or if this is something that can wait until the 6th...does anyone know?

I had to see my g.p. last Wednesday due to pain issues and she is going to send me to a pulmonologist hopefully in the near future.  My g.p. says that the reason I am having a 70% lung capacity is due to smoking changes in my lungs.  I wonder how true that is because I quit smoking 6 months ago and had no problems with my lungs until 6 months later?  I am having doubts about the ability of this doctor period because she sent me home telling me that she is not going to give me anything for the neuropathic pain and that I will just have to deal with it!  I am now in search of a new physician and hoping I can find one soon!

Thanks for answering my questions though, I really appreciated it!

Rena, thank goodness!! What a relief all of this must be to you...I have been wondering how your tests went and was happy to read that they went pretty well. As far as your lower than normal lung capacity, I wonder if that is because of the MS. I do think that seeing a specialist is a good idea...I don't think that it is an emergency so seeing your primary doc on the 6th and then seeing the pulmo would probably be okay. How low is your O2 sat?
I am so glad that you got some answers though, I know that you have been very worried about this. Sunny
