Lung pain and scar tissue

Can lung pain be caused by scar tissue on the lungs picked up by a bacteria? About 15 years ago I went to the doctor for chest pain and cough and the doctor said I had scar tissue on my lung picked up by a bacteria I was exposed to while living in Texas and not to worry about it. Does this make sense?
