Lungs

by JUJUBean1, May 24, 2007 12:00AM
My Father-in-Law just had surgery yesterday for pericarditis they had to put him under to get the fluid off of his heart, we are waiting to see the results of the bioposy that they took to see what caused this. Meanwhile today they went to take him off of the breathing machine but he can't breathe on his own, they said he has fluid in his lungs. Is this uncommon when you get out of surgery when it comes to pericarditis, what will they do to get the fluid out of the lungs so he can breathe on his own? They removed 1 gallon of fluid from his lungs, the doctor was shocked he had that much. Thank you
