MAC Macrobacteria Avium Lung disease

Went to National Jewish Med Center in Denver. Successfully treated for MAC, so far so good! Also diagnosed with Bronchiestises.
Was advised by nutrtionist to eat three servings of red meat / week. I wonder why the need for red meet? Can I eat other forms of protein and get same effect?

Thank you...this seems to make sense. Will contact NJ. If this is the case, I will then seek foods natural in iron to supplement diet.

I would call NJ and ask them why.  Do/did you have a problem with anemia?  Or does your pulse O2 tend to run low?  Red meat is high in iron which the red blood cells use to carry oxygen from the lungs to the cells.  My guess is that it is not a protein issue but rather an iron content issue.
