Meth Challenge results per my DR

I spoke to my Dr today about my 2nd Meth Challenge test and he told me that I had a 18% drop in lung function after the 5 dose and when I was given a Albuteral treatment after the test was done I had a 16% increase in lung function. So he would guess I have a mild case of asthma.I forgot to ask him what is the % a person with asthma is suppose to increase after a albuteral treatment?

Usually a person with asthma would have at least a 14% increase in lung function after being treated with albuterol.

NJC,

The AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines (which is the staple format country wide for the Methacholine Challenge) doesnt show any data for such probable outcomes. I'd like to know where you got the figure "14% increase in lung function". Which lung function are you speaking of specifically? And why would it be at least 14% if asthma is specific to small airway obstruction? Small airway onstruction covers a very wide spectrum of responsiveness and reversability. There is no "at least" here.

Please chesk your sources before you post clinical data like this.
