Minimal Biapical Pleural Thickening findings

by tatSkie, Jan 30, 2007 12:00AM
hello good day,

i just raised some question regarding on the result of my X-ray. since i am not into medicine practice im not really familiar of the result but still im willing to understand of what my illness really is.

First and foremost let me tell you my Personal Data, I am a male, 25 y.o. and working as a computer programmer, I have conducted an X-Ray recently and the result was "Minimal Biapical Pleural Thickening" i have read some topics related to this and the conclusion was caused if much exposure to abestos. But on my part i am working as a programmer, my company is not into chemical production, i am only exposed in the PC monitor, so what i believe that the caused of this ill was 'air polution' in our sorroundings. I am not a Smoker, nor engage into drugs like marijuana, dont have medical history of asthma. what i only encounter for lung problem was cough. I am into sports before so i really excess some sweat but in the last 6 months i only make some stretching in my room and this does not caused me sweat.

My question is, i want to know how i am affected to pleural thickening, aside from abestos what other things that caused to this? and what would be the medication should i do so that this may not become worse? regarding on my food intake, should i make a diet? what else or any prevention must i do?

hope you can help me
thanks a lot.

The 'thickening' could be as a result of previous inflamation (inflammation). Asbestos exposure is just one of the causes but not the only one, and if you work in a modern building I doubt very much there would be air borne asbestos floating about for you to breathe. However, if you are still concerned about asbestos ask for specific testing to be done to ease your mind.
Likewise, there are many reasons why we cough and these aren't always 'bad' things, but should be investigated by your doctor. If you feel you are not getting the answers you want, ask to see a lung specialist or ear, nose and throat specialist. Keeping fit is important...exercise what ever you feel comfortable with, it will help you now and later in life.
