Overall weak respiratory system

Hello,
I realize that due to my large number of symptoms, I might just be advised to see a doctor, but I wondered if I could just get an opinion about what I've been experiencing.

I've always had a wear respiratory system -- At a young age, I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma, and was always the kid that was gasping for air when the gym teacher made us run a mile around the track. Later, I started getting very "phlegmy" every time I laughed a lot (this still happens). Now, whenever I get a cold, my respiratory system is always affected first. About three weeks ago I caught a cold which ended up with me not being able to speak at all. My vocal cords felt heavy. Since that time, my voice has come back for the most part, but I still feel a very weak sensation in my chest area. I feel like I have to cough when I take a breath, and cough when I hold my breath. I just hope that this cold did not trigger a chronic condition.

Thank you.

Alot of people with asthma find that their symptoms get worse with any type of infection or exposure to allergens to which they are allergic to. I am a good example of this. Infections cause increased inflammation. Are you on any meds right now for your symptoms? I would see your doctor so that you can get the right treatment and be followed appropriately. I wish I could help more...Sunny
