PAINS IN LUNGS

I HAVE BEEN HAVING SHARP PAINS IN MY LUNGS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW, THEY ARE VERY ARE TWINGES WHICH FEELS AS THOUGH SOMEONE IS PINCHING THE INSIDE OF MY LUNGS VERY HARD, THIS CAN HAPPEN IN MOST AREAS ANS ON BOTH SIDES.  i USED TO SMOKE A LOT BUT NOW I HAVE PRETTY MUCH QUIT, ONLY HAVING ABOUT ONE CIGARETTE A WEEK WHEN I DRINK.  SMOKING DOES SEEM TO MAKE THE SYMPTOMS MUCH WORSE BUT THE ONSET OF THIS IS NOT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO RETURN TO A STATE WHERE I HAVE NO SYMPTOMS.

I HAVE WORK AS A PROPERTY DEVELOPER, RENOVATING MANY OLD HOUSES OVER THE YEARS AND THINK THAT THIS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO MY SYMTOMS (symptoms).

I HAVE HAD AN X-RAY OF MY CHEST BUT IT WAS ALL CLEAR AND HAVE DONE A SPIROMETRY TEST BUT THIS WAS HEALTHY ALSO.

I HAVE READ A LITTLE ON WHAT IT MAY BE AND IT SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE PLEURACY???

THE PAIN DOES SEEM SLIGHTLY WORSE WHEN I'M HUNCHED OVER AND I HAVE NO PAINS WHEN LYING IN BED FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, SEEMING TO GET SLIGHTLY WORSE AS THE DAY GOES ON.

COULD MY LUNGS JUST BE OVER REACTING AND HYPERSENSATIVE DUE TO ALL THE HAMMER I HAVE GIVEN THEM OVER THE YEAR?

ANY ANSWERS WOULD BE NICE SO I CAN HOPEFULLY PUT MY MIND TO REST.

this does sound like pleurisy which occurs when the pleura that lines your chest cavity and surround both of your lungs becomes inflamed. does it hurt when you inhale and exhale do you have shortness of breath, do you have a dry cough. it may be in your best interest to see a doctor about this especially if the chest pain is persistent and intense you have a hig fever and you become very short of breath. x love Kara

No I don't really get pains when I breath in, its just really sharp twinges that can be in either lung and in most places.  I have no dry cough and do not have shortness of breath.  I do a lot of aerobic excercise and it's not really affected this yet.  The twinges do seem to pretty much clear sometimes but then come back, mainly after smoking.  Why would my lungs now react so badly to smoke?

sometimes after smoking for a long time the lungs can react badly to a sudden decrease in the amount you smoke stopping totally may help! Bronchial infections and pneumonia are common problems. perhaps your lungs just cant take it anymore and the twinges might just be a warning for you to stop. Smoke damages the air sacks in the lungs and causes them to close up. The body can produce new air sacks, but they are not as effective as the original ones. The lungs start to prematurely age and they begin to not be able to carry around the oxygen they need. The oxygen cleans the body and prevents infections. Without proper delivery of oxygen the lungs become at risk for ailments. This can even lead to lung cancer. There are more than 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes. These chemicals irritate the airways and the lungs. They cause complications such as shortness of breath, wheezing and the more serious emphysema. This would be my honest opinion on it x love Kara i hope you can find out what it is soon.
