PERICARDITIS AND SLEEP APNEA

I have reoccuring Pericarditis for over 3 years, reocccuring every 30 to 90 days inflamation will occur and sometimes 6mo apart, no cause has been found - symptoms have been changing form worse to better and are now mild, I did a lung sleep test and 80 times in 6hrs- we now think that my breathing in of germs at night could be causing infections in my lungs since all Cat scans and blood tests are normal - I usually ony have the symtoms and breathing issues for 7-10 days and then I can run and excerise for hours and feel completely normal. But when asking the lung specailist he said theat would not explain the pericarditis but might only explain lung breating problems, My Diaphram was also a bit high and part suspect was paralized diaphram when the symtoms flare up. I am a looking for any information on linkages between pericarditis, sleep aptnea and swolen lymth nodes in lungs- all cancers, TB, Aids, RA, all tests are negative also never broke any bone or had sergerys.

What tests did your doctors perform? Did you see any specialists? My husband was diagnosed with pericarditis, cardiomyopathy, possible myocarditis. He has had symptoms and been ill since January 2008- worst episode (ongoing) since April. We are at a dead end. Everything is coming up negative. Doctors have no answers. Please help!

I really feel for you...I had pericarditis once and the pain was tremendous, I can't imagine what you are going through with repeat episodes. I am sure the doctors have checked you out for autoimmune disorders that can cause pericarditis such as SLE, Sjorgen's, RA, Scleroderma etc...The cause of my pericarditis was viral....I wonder if you are getting repeat infections that are causing this. Her is an article on viral pericarditis, in it says that some people get a chronic form of pericarditis...it is from Emedicine. Here is the link..
