We just got relocated to USA from Asia.Last week,my 14 yrs old went for PPDPositive ppd skin test Ppd skin test test and it measured around 10mm and the doctor ordered a chest xray which result is negative. She has totally no syndrome of anything related to TB.
The pediatrician would like to put her in a 6mths course of antibiotic as a preventivePreventive health care measure but however,I m worried. As I spoke to the TB department in this state, the lady told me they have been using this drug since 1940,although there would be side effect but millions of people are taking it as a preventivePreventive health care measure.
I asked if its advisable to do a re-test for the PPDPositive ppd skin test Ppd skin test as I read that the result could be a false reading due to the BCG immunisation that we had.She told me no point for a re-testing as if a patient showed positive once for the PPDPositive ppd skin test Ppd skin test, would be life long positive even with treatment. It got me even more worried.
And then she told me as all medication goes into liver, there is a risk there.....
I have been getting sleepless nights here not knowing what is the direction to go.
