PPH in infants

by Pickle, Apr 07, 2002 12:00AM
My new born baby had PPH.  It took them days to determine what was wrong with her.  During this time she suffered many (perhaps) every side effect.  Collapsed lung, bleed in the brain, etc.  I recently had her to the neonatal follow up clinic, and for the first time was told it is likely that she will have degenerative hearing loss and they are seeing signs of this.  She is six months old and it seems that I am continuosly finding out more problems that we may have to deal with.  She seems perfect right now.  She can see, hear, her motor skills are at an appropriate level.  But what I am wondering is what all of the side effects could be so that I can be prepared.  Also what signs I should be looking for to determine if there are any problems as a result of the PPH.
Thank you.

We have checked with the Pediatric Pulmonologists on staff. Because we do not have a neonatal unit at the hospital, we have no one with expertise in this area. We would recommend speaking with the specialists at your local hospital or the closest children's hospital.
