Do not worry, pneumonia takes a toll on your lungs and immunity. The pain may take a few months to go. You should take some vitamin supplements to help you, and just rest, do not exert at all.
Hello and hope you are doing well.
If the pain is due to pleurisy, which is inflammation of the lining of the chest cavity, then this pain can vary with posture and with coughing. As the infection and inflammation resolve, the pain should resolve.

Got really sore pain at front of chest low down just under ribs today - it's very sore. I see from your comment you mentioned the chest pain could be from coughing but I am having hardly any coughing these days, that has resolved. The chest pain under the bottom of my ribs comes on late afternoon - should I go back to my GP as it is concerning me, should I ask for a chest x ray as my bloods and sputum sample are ok?.
Results from GP showed blood and sputum sample were not showing signs of infection. I am feeling better but still this pain under my ribs lower down, so I am taking pain relief for that. I understand that it can take anywhere up to 6 months to fully recover from Mycoplasma Pneumonia so will not be too hard on myself and take things slowly. Thanks for your kind advice Dr Anitha, will keep you posted.

Don't worry the infection may be taking time to resolve. With the right antibiotic after the culture and sensitivity report, it should resolve. Ensure to take the medication for the required number of days.
The constant coughing could cause muscle strain and chest pain. Sometimes the pleura, the lining of the chest cavity and lungs can get inflamed causing pain with coughing.
For the symptoms take bronchodilators for bronchospasm and do steam inhalations to help clear the secretions. You can take OTC pain medication Ibuprofen. Ensure to take this medication after food to avoid gastritis.

Update on condition - yesterday dr heard rumble in lower left lung, I was devastated to hear that as I am such a worrier. She took blood and sputum sample and as I had doxycycline previously for original pneumonia she has given me a 3 day course of Zithromax to try and clear this infection by 'nipping it in the bud'. I am still getting chest pain which is central and have a wheeze in centre of chest which she says is inflammation of airways. I feel better during the day it struggle with nights and without fail every night wake with sweat on chest area. Oxygen levels yesterday at dr were at 99 per cent. I am hoping together the blood results tomorrow, maybe a bit longer for sputum result. I am a previously healthy 40 year old and I am struggling with this illness as its one step forward and two steps back. Can you advise me on anything to help me please Dr Anitha, thanks.

Post infection, there could be some amount of bronchospasm and this could be causing the problems with breathing. This can be detected by a spirometry test. Have yourself evaluated for the same. In the meantime try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions.
