Pain in throat and chest when burping, swallowing and coughing

Hi.
About a week ago I got a general cold and have been sniffly and wheezy. I have slight asthma but hardly ever need to take my inhaler and only use it when i'm wheezy but this time I have been needing to take it more than ever. Today I am still the same and have catar but when I swallow I can feel pain at the bottom of my throat when I swallow, cough and burp and sometimes if I breathe heavily. I know it shouldn't be tonsilitis as I have had my tonsils out as I had bad tonsilitis when I was younger.
Please could you give me any information as to what may be the matter?
