I have COPD (emphysema) treated with O2 and nebulized medication. I also am using Nitroglycerin (sub-lingual) for chest pain. I have wide open coronary arteries by cardiac cath and no EKG abnormalities. But my chest pain responds to the nitro. Lately I have been having chest pain when I inhale only and this seems to be happening when I go outside in the cold weather. Could this pain be related to my COPD reacting to this recent cold weather? Also, my doctor hasn't told me what the condition is that I'm taking the nitro for. Are there other problems that cause chest pain that responds to nitro? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The most common reason for Nitroglycerin is for spasm of the coronary arteries. If this is not your problem, I would suggest asking your physician why you are being given this medication.
It is possible that the cold air is causing some pain. However, with the information about the nitroglycerin, I would again discuss this with your physician.
