Hello and hope you are doing well.
The first step would be to stop worrying. The lungs age with smoking as in comparison to the person’s age. If you stop smoking at this point, the lungs are not damaged any further, though the damage that has already been done cannot be reversed. So, giving up smoking would be first step towards controlling your symptoms.
Treatment for bronchitis is usually symptomatic. Antibiotics for infections and bronchodilators for bronchospasm. And of course avoidance of smoking to prevent further damage to the lungs. Good Luck.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
I have chronic bronchitis, doesn't flare often. Im 23, former smoker.. when you get a cold or flu etc, it may flare and if needed antibiotics and steroids will clear the infection. When i know i have a problem : have been or am sick, coughing alot ( sometimes mucus) and tight chest / short of breath. I go to the doc, i get what i need. Not life threatening unless you don't treat the infection when you have one. Smoking will make it much harder to breath when bronchitis is flaring. Good luck and calm down!
bronchitis is an infection of the airways.. my little boy has had it twice.. its not from smoking but weather.. smoking would make it worse.. it usually goes on its own. good luck x
