Pleurisy Symptoms

I took my 16 year old daughter to the emergency room for severe chest pain. They performed EKG's, x-rays, and blood work, and the doctor diagnosed her with pleusiry. She wasn't running a fever, so he said it was probably caused by a virus and prescribed her anti-inflamatory medication. Her pain got a better for a while, but it's been over 2 months and she still periodically expereinces severe chest pain. Can pleurisy last this long?
