Post spontanious pneumothorax pain

by stager036, Aug 25, 2009 09:28PM
I had a spontanious pneumothorax back in late January of 09. 40% of my lung was collapsed and I spent 4 days in the hospital, 3 of the days i spent in bed with a chest tube in. Is it normal to still have occasional pain on that side? Sometimes the side of my chest just aches and its not in one specific spot sometimes its high sometimes its low or to the left a little or right. Sometimes it will wake me when im sleeping on that side and I'll have to switch sides. Just wondering if thats common or not. Thank you.

To: stager036,
I had twice pneumothorax in 1991 and 1992 (first right lung, I stayed 10 days in hospital, second left lung, I was operated and stayed 40 days in hospital).
Now I still have pains in both side from time to time.

For the past 18 years, I often worried about my lungs when I had dry cough but I did not have pneumothorax again.
