Problems Breathing, moving, waking up in the morning

by mystic74, Jan 21, 2005 12:00AM
I have been disgnosed with Astma, not the severe kind, but not the least severe either. I've experienced bronchitis twice (the 1st time being real bad-took over 4 months to get better-Jan 2003) and the 2nd in Dec 2004-pretty bad-ended up in ER and lasted 1 month). I get colds really easy and try to avoid being around sick people and wash my hands, but obviously that doesn't always work. After my 1st episode with bronchitis, I began having Asthma symptoms, and was put on medication (ex: ventolin, prednisone, etc). I don't really exercise, but I try to keep active. I have a great life now, getting married, plan to have kids. My concern is, for the past few months I have been having problems waking up (and I'm not a morning person). By that I mean, I am extra sensitive in the morning, when I start opening my eyes, I can feel a heaviess on my chest. I also have problems moving my body. Sometimes I have to think really hard to move. (I used to have a problem feeling paralyzed at night-and discovered it was me waking up before my body-REM related issue-have not had that problem for years). I feel so powerless and I am getting frustrated. I changed the tempurature of the room (colder) thinking perhaps it was too warm and was uncomfortable. I have also been experiencing neck tension headaches. Where it feels like the back of my neck is tight and my head goes light (I have to lay down for a while before it goes away). As I previously stated before, I plan to have kids, but I want to be in the best physical shape possible. Please advise. Thank you.

To be sure that you are in the best physical shape possible you need a thorough examine by a pulmonologist.  This would be the type of specialist to be sure of the correct diagnosis and its proper treatment.

From your description, you will also need a formal sleep study to determine what is happening during your sleep.
