I recently was in the hospital for multiple PE's. I'm on Warafin now. I drive for a living and drive to a second home 6 hours away. Is it safe to drive that far??

Sitting for long periods is one of the causes of pulmonary emboli (PEs).  Other causes are disorders that make your blood clot more.  In general, the recommendation is to get up and walk around at least every 2 hours.  You should not have more PEs while you are taking warfarin, which makes your blood harder to clot.  But, as in all cases, these recommendations are general.  Ask your doctor for more specific information in your individual case.

I have chronic PEs. I've had them for 7 years and all of the doctors that I have spoken to are surprised that I am even alive. I am trying to find anybody who has had 5+ years of PEs and thus far - it seems pretty slim pickings - from what I have gathered thus far - nobody with PEs - (chronic) ever lives that long. I can probably answer any question that you may have regarding PEs and DVTs - my brother died from both. I have been hospitalized so many times that I have my own personal nurse with my healthcare provider - so, email me with any question that you may have - and I will try to provide a realistic answer vs. one which is glossed over by the doctors or those that have no idea what they are really talking about - and if you know of anybody who has 5+ years of chronic PEs and is still alive - I would appreciate you asking them to get in touch with me. ***@****
