Pulmonary Embolism

Hi, I wasn't too sure where to post this,

I have been taking a daily dose of tinzaparin for the last 4 months to treat my bilateral pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, and i have noticed my hairline receding and my overall head of hair thinning.  I have tried to research it and have found info about warfarin (another type of blood thinner) causing hairloss, and was wondering if anyone knew wether tinzaparin could be a cause for hairloss

Thanks

Tinzaparin could be a cause for hair loss.  In the case report that follows the alopecia, commonly called hair loss, was reversible with the switch to another low molecular weight heparin.

Title Diffuse alopecia in a hemodialysis patient caused by a low-
molecular-weight heparin, tinzaparin.
Source American Journal of Kidney Diseases. 41(5):E15, 2003 May.
Abstract The authors report on a 66-year-old hemodialysis patient who had
diffuse alopecia while on anticoagulation treatment to prevent
extracorporeal blood clotting with a low- molecular-weight heparin
(LMWH), tinzaparin.  The alopecia reversed completely when
tinzaparin was substituted by another LMWH, enoxaparin.  The
biopsy findings, the possible mechanisms of heparin's action in the
hair roots, and the restoration of the patient's hairs after the
discontinuation of tinzaparin are discussed.

Have your  thyroid checked. It causes almost all mental and physical illness. It is well known to cause one type of hair loss. Read patient sites as these can give you an idea how difficult it is too find a doc to treat, they're really controlled by their groups and ins cos. It may be the cause of all your problems. Research this, type in your dx and thyroid.
