Reactive airway disease

by Tamara72, Sep 30, 2008 08:43PM
I have just experienced an episode of uncotrollable coughing which I could not get under control  at all with albuterol and atrovent. I was scared and exhausted so I  went to the Dr and she orderd and xray and said it was fine, listened to my lungs and said I sounded clear in my lungs and then told me she did not know what it was. I knew I was having severe bronchospasms I could not control and was very confused myself as I was unable to barely walk and was sob with my unexplained condition . looking in my medical books I now believe I was experiencing RAD but as a Respiratory Therapist by trade I  can tell you that I have not dealt with this condition yet. i asked the Dr for cough medicine with codeine for rest and a corticoid steroid for inflammation since they were the only things I had not tried and they worked!!! I am hoping that i can get these bronchospasms and coughing under control for good  now but I am wondering how long does this condition last on average??..
