Recovery Time and treatment

Help  I am 59 years old and have recently been diagnosed with Paralyzed Diaphram
I am extremely SOB upon any exerction.  My stats are good my lungs appear clear
its just that I am not able to get a full breath of air.  I walk about 20 feet and it takes
abot 5 to 7 minutes before I can get my Resps down. I am not able to get answers
from my pulmonologist or primary care Dr. Is my next step to a Neurologist? What
treatments are available, and what is the recovery time. One huge disatvantage is my
morbid obesity and I am really trying to work on this however again I am so limited in
any exertion. Up to the bath room and back to bed is the extent of my ability to function.
I am open to any suggestions. Basicaly I am very healthy and have never been sick
or had any surgerys prior to this occurance.  I was diagnosed with pneumonia in Jan.08
could this be caused from that?  No trauma at all to me??? Thanks for your Help  MJV
