Recurring Sore Throat

Greetings,
I am really distraught and home all of you can help me. I have a sore throat that has been going on and off for about 1 year now. 9 months ago I was very sick and came down with Strep "C", I was given a 5 day course of antibiotics, this did not work I was then given another 2 sets of antibiotics from Amoxicillan, penicillin, Z-pac. I took these everyday and they solved the issue for a short period but then I would have a re-occurring sore throat.
I finally went to an infectious disease specialist and she told me I had re-occurring strep-C. She did not feel comfortable giving me a very high dosage on Anti-biotics when she stated that I would most likely have this for a long time. I believe she said that I was either a carrier or one of the terms where it just stays with you. I accepted this out in September and have not had an issue since until last month.
Last month this winter my throat started becoming dry every day. I felt this was just because the heat was on, until my room-mate came down with Strep. I then 2 weeks later on 1/10/08 later had a 102 fever, I went to the doctor and went on a 10 day anti-biotic(MOX/K CLAV TAB 875MG 2 a day). I was on bed rest for 4 days and felt that I had recovered. Just last week similar symptoms began to show up. My tongue is a solid white ( but light in a way), when I drink it feels like there is a dry spot in the back of my throat. I am drinking lots of fluids, chammolie tea, vitamins. I believe this is the Strep-C again coming back but I do not know what to do. I have gotten tested at a clinic for STD's and it has all come back as negative.
What can I do? I work out very often I am monogamous and not promiscuous, I hate being sick and am somewhat of a work-a-holic.  Please let me know what you think since I need to figure out a fix. I am waiting on the doctor whom gave me anti-biotics to get back to me with what the results were.

Streptococcus group C throat infections are uncommon but not rare.  You might want to check with the infectious disease specialist to see if, between the two of you, you might be able to identify a source of recurrent exposure and infection.  You mention negative testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) but many immunodeficiency states are unrelated to STDs and can be acquired anytime in one's lifetime

The white tongue sounds like you have thrush or Candidiasis.  This can occur as an adverse effect of antibiotic therapy or when a person is "run down" for whatever reason.

The results on the test by the doctor were negative on the throat culture. Could this be a fungus?
