Removing Barium from the lungs

by davoice, Jun 22, 2009 09:39AM
My mother is 69 years of age.  Two years ago she had a gastric bypass to resolve a hiatal hernia.  She took a barium test and asperated from it.  She has had chest x-ray's and they see the barium trapped.  Please tell me what options we have of removing the barium.  She also has C.O.P.D and struggles to breathe.  She is currently receiving antibotics through an IV.  Please also let me know if there is a surgical procedure that can be performed to get rid of the barium in her lungs.
