Respiratory viral infection on and off

I am a 39 year old woman who has had an on and off respiratory infection for over a year.  The doctor says it is a viral infection and that there is no medication to treat it.  I feel better but within a couple of weeks I feel weak again and find myself coughing and short of breath, headachey and tired.  I was a regular exerciser but simply cannot get back to my normal routine of 30 minutes aerobic exercise daily.  I also live and work within an extremely stressful environment and fel this may be a factor in my inability to shake this infection.  I have tried vitamin supplements, long periods of rest, careful nutrition and kinesiology (!).  Any advice gratefully received

No, don't smoke.  Good idea about allergies though.  Will get onto that.  Thanks.

If you smoke, that could be the main problem...IF YOU DO, PLEASE QUIT. I was a 46 year smoker & went through repeated viral bronchitis until I quit.  I also had repeated bronchitis which my inhaler CAUSED.  Also, some medications cause rebound viral infections. You might be allergic to something in your home or work place. If I were you, I'd go to a pulmonoligist for tests.
