Restrictive Lung Disease

by Linda1955, Mar 14, 2008 08:32AM
My husband had a CT of the chest and also pulmonary function testing done.  We were under the impression that the pft was okay, yesterday he received a letter from his Dr. that he has evidence of restrictive lung disease.  My husband is positive he is dying, has been laying in bed now for 24 hours with a migraine and vomiting (from nerves), and our doctor will give him no more information until our appointment on March 25th!!!!!!!!!!!!   I had to call in sick today to stay home with him.   I do remember that on his chest x ray, the Dr told us his lungs were small, (he was ruling out COPD, and I guess with COPD your lungs are bigger, not smaller).  We are so puzzled and don't know where to turn (he might shrivel up in  the next 11 days).  Any advice?

His doctor should try and get him in for your husband's sake. He shouldn't have to be tormented by this....A new diagnosis is very hard to swallow sometimes, the doctor should be sensitive enough to take the time to discuss his findings with both of you. I would call the doc and tell him what is happening with your husband, maybe he will talk to your husband sooner.
I hope that things work out for you guys, Sunny
